Christopher Vlachos, a Watertown native and Whitman resident, achieved All American honors his junior year as a defensemen for the Salem State College ice hockey program. He was a two time Team MVP and team captain. Chris was awarded the SSC Frederick Meier Top Male Student Athlete Award in his senior year, after leading the Vikings to the ECAC playoffs and a 24-6-1 record.

Chris, a three time Massachusetts State College Athletic Confference (MASCAC) selection and two time Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) all star, originally enrolled at Salem State in 1983, but left a short time later to help with his family’s restaurant. Five years later he made the decision to return to SSC to pursue a degree and rekindle his hockey career. His return was a success as he excelled in the classroom and on the ice. The Vikings rallied behind the rejuvenated Chris, who helped lead the program to three MASCAC titles and three ECAC playoff appearances.

During his All American season, Chris scored seven goals and added 28 assists. He also Earned MASCAC player of the year, ECAC all star and New England Hockey Writers all star honors his junior year. He was named to four all tournament teams and was chosen MVP of the 25^th Annual Codfish Bowl tournament.
