Bio

Coach Mason was the first gymnastics coach at the College and was instrumental in establishing the program in the 1966-67 season and coached until 1973. After a two year absence, she took over the program again in 1975, and coached until 1984. Her teams were highly successful, rarely losing to Division III schools. In her final year of coaching the team captured its first New England Championship and finished the ECAC Championships. A member of the faculty from 1966 to 1987, she received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Springfield College where she was an outstanding gymnast. She was selected as the head balance beam coach for Eastern Women’s Gymnastics by the Olympic Committee. Three of the six members of that squad went on to represent the United States in the 1972 Olympics. She and her husband Richard and their daughter Gwyneth reside in Rowley. She has become very involved in equestrian competition during the past ten years and with teaching riding and driving.
